Member Email Campaigns

Engage with your members through email campaigns

Updated this week

Email Campaigns are a great way to promote your referral program to your existing, activated members directly from inside Referral Rock.

Email Campaigns allow for flexibility to send messages to activated Members based on profile characteristics or through our Member Segments feature. Using Email Campaigns with Member Segments, you can target your campaign message in many ways.

Examples of Member Email Campaigns:

  • Reach out to the members who have provided referrals to encourage them to continue sharing.

• Remind members that have visited the portal but never made a referral to share their link, and offer easy sharing options straight in the email.

  • Inspire your members who have not logged into their dashboard in a while to share and view their statistics.

  • Share any program updates with your Members (new incentives, a bonus for sharing more, etc).

Note: Referral Rock limits the number of emails sent to 4x your Member limit per month.

Create an Email Campaign

  1. Select Campaigns > Member Campaigns or click here.

  2. Click Create a Member Campaign.

  3. Name your Campaign, then select the program you want to associate the campaign with. Select Next.

  4. Either select an existing Member Segment from the drop-down menu or select + Add under "Choose an existing Member Segment or Filter" to add a Filter. You can continue adding filters to narrow down which Members you would like to reach with your campaign. Once you've made your selection, click Next.

    1. All Activated Members that match your Program and Filters will appear under Recipients.

    2. You may manually exclude members from this list by clicking the Exclude box next to that Member's name.

  5. Enter the Email Subject and customize the email to your liking. Once everything looks good, select Next.

    1. Using our merge tags to personalize your email will make the member feel welcome to your program.

    2. Consider including the Member Footer or a Sharing Block so your members can get started sharing right away.

    3. You can test the email by entering an email and selecting Send Test.

  6. Choose whether to send the emails immediately, or schedule a time to send them later.

    1. If you select, 'Send' your emails will be placed in a queue to be sent out as soon as possible. Depending on the load, this may take several minutes to complete.

If you'd like to make edits to your scheduled Email Campaign, you must first Cancel the campaign and then edit it as a Draft.

FAQ

What's the difference between Member Email Campaigns and Activation Campaigns?

It's based on the Member Status each campaign targets:

  • Member Email Campaigns are reminders to keep already activated members engaged.

  • Activation Campaigns are aimed at getting preapproved members to become activated (= access the Member Portal for the first time and start sharing.)

How can customers fix their email if email campaigns are bouncing and they haven’t opted out?

The emails are likely being blocked by their email provider. If they can access their account, they can update their email by going to their Account section in the members' portal.

If they can't access the account, you can do this for them. Go to their profile in Referral Rock, and click on "Edit details" and update their email address.

An email failure may also be related to the fraud rules that are in place in the system and in your programs. Use caution with updating fraud rules, as this can trigger unwanted repetition or bypassing some of the reward rules.
