The Analytics Dashboard lets you quickly assess the effectiveness of your referral program based on key leading indicators:

New Members
Understand how many new members are added to the program and if they are engaging. You want to focus on consistently adding new members and making sure they convert to activated members.
Added: how many new members are added to your program
Activated: how many members engaged with your program for the first time. Any of the below events will cause a member to become activated:
Member Portal visit
Share method click
Referral clicks their share link
Referral is added for them
Reward is added for them
Analyze Members
Comparing added vs. activated members over time indicates if your program is resonating.
If added members are low:
Add additional promotion channels such as:
Email newsletters
Transactional emails
Other emails not focused on your program
Social media
Your homepage
Your checkout page
Other pages of your website
Your customer portal
Build automated workflows to continuously add new members to your program
Importing members via CSV files and running member campaigns
If activation members are low, consider:
Make your messaging more exciting and compelling
Changing the reward you give out to members and/or referrals:
Increase the reward value
Try a different reward
Run a seasonal reward campaign to boost engagement
Member Activity
Understand if members are visiting their Member Portal and sharing your program. You want to increase activity over time, especially shares as this is a leading indicator of potential referrals.
Member visits: total number of member visits the Member Portal received
Shares: number of times members clicked a share method in the Member Portal or program emails
Analyze Activity
Comparing member visits and shares over time indicates if people actively participate in your program.
Improve these metrics by:
Updating or changing member and referral rewards
Improving your Member Portal messaging
Simplifying the sharing process
Create a sharing process you can explain in 3-4 simple steps
Sending targeted reminders to engage, such as:
Monthly to all members
After a purchase is made
After rewards are earned
Run a member re-engagement campaign
Impact
Understand how your program is performing and see how member activity translates to new referrals.
Reach: approximates how many (unique) people heard about your program (includes both unconverted and converted referrals)
Sum of all visitors from referral visits, referrals added via direct add, and manually added referrals.
Referrals: The total number of converted referrals added to your program
Analyze Impact
Comparing reach vs. referrals over time indicates if new referrals are interested in your offer.
If reach is low and shares are high:
Then your share and offer message does not resonate with referrals. You need to:
Improve your share messaging
Update or change the referral reward
If reach is low and shares are low:
Then members aren’t sharing and you need to improve shares first (see recommendations above).
If reach is high but referrals are low:
Then referrals see your business/offer but do not convert. You need to:
Update or change the referral reward
Improve referral page messaging to better demonstrate value and benefits
Reduce complexity of the referral ask (i.e., what you want referrals to do as a first step)
