Member Portal Explained

Learn about the Member Portal & how to customize it

Updated today

Overview

Each member has their own Member Portal to share your program, access their referrals and rewards, update their details, and learn more about your program. The portal also provides members with visibility into high-level performance statistics.

Admin and Manager roles use the Program Editor to configure the portal's appearance, labels, and branding to ensure a cohesive experience for members.

What we’ll cover:

Before you start

  • Ensure you have an Admin or Manager role to configure the Member Portal.

  • Set up Rewards and Payouts first, as these are the backbone of every referral program.

  • Write messaging that encourages users to engage with your program. Referral Rock writes initial messaging and provides copy/design recommendations for paying customers.

  • Customize how and what members share on the Share tab.

Where to find the Member Portal

Programs > [Program name] > Open Editor > Portal

Navigating the Portal Editor

Understand how to navigate the different sections of the Portal Editor to build an engaging program.

  1. Select the specific page you wish to view or edit from the drop-down menu in the top-left corner.

  2. Use Edit Page (page icon) to configure page elements and member display options.

  3. Use Edit Text (pencil icon) to customize labels, copy, and error messages on all of the portal pages.

  4. Use Edit Brand Settings (gear icon) to update logos and colors.

  5. Toggle between desktop and mobile views in the top-right corner to preview the display on different devices.

Public Access Pages

These pages are accessible to non-members via URL and are not gated behind a login.

Program Landing Page

The Program Landing Page allows new members to join or existing members to log into their Member Portal. It uses a passwordless experience to reduce friction.

Customization Options

  • Welcome Message Content Block: Configure a message with an image, text, or both.

  • Registration Options: Choose which social or email providers to allow (Email, Google, Facebook, Apple, or Microsoft).

  • Information Collection: Enable custom fields or phone number collection during registration.

Note: You can disable the Welcome Message content block if you are adding a landing page on your own website to explain your program to potential members.

Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions section contains program FAQs or contract terms.

Customization Options

  • Page Toggle: Disable this page if you do not require members to accept terms prior to registering.

  • Display Style: Choose External Link to host terms on your own site, or HTML Content to add terms directly in the portal editor.

  • Default Condition: Customize the default "Not to be combined with any other offer" copy as needed.

Members Only Pages

These pages are only accessible after a member has joined or logged into your referral program.

The Member Dashboard is the primary hub members see after logging in.

Customization Options
