Build One Click Access Links

Use our Program Link Builder to build One Click Access links or review our guide to building your own for more details and customization options.

Step 1: How It Works

Plan where to use One Click Access links. Some examples include newsletters, email signatures, thank you emails, and many others that can help you build a seamless referral experience.

While these are some of the most common places, think about where else you can promote your program. Consider existing interactions with potential members and where in that journey they’re likely to refer you.

Step 2: Choose Program

Once you decide where to include the link, select the relevant program.

Step 3: Select Location

Select the platform or location where you'll be sending or displaying the One Click Access link. You may select multiple locations.

  • Platforms: email and marketing platform (select unlisted if your platform isn't shown)

  • Marketing Page: public-facing marketing page such as your home page or website

  • Web App: online application that requires someone to login to access

  • Mobile App: mobile application that someone downloads on their phone

Step 4: Use Your Link

Here you’ll find instructions for how to use your link. If you’re promoting in multiple locations (a best practice), you may have multiple links with different instructions.

You can “Save” this page but remember to bookmark or copy/paste the link for later reference. If you forget, you can just go through the steps again.

FAQs

What if a link does not work, where will the person be sent?

To the Program Landing Page for members to sign up or log in there.

What happens when a new member clicks the link?

Clicking on a One Click Access link grants new members full access to their Portal and keeps them logged in on that device for 365 days or until the cookie is removed. See First Visit for more details.

Why do members sometimes see locked areas on the Member Portal?

Referral Rock has the highest standard for data security. For this reason, we created One Click Access links to facilitate sharing while keeping sensitive information safe. Members will be prompted to log in if they try to access a locked area. See Returning Visit (new device or logged out) for more details.

Can I build my own links or add additional parameters?

Here is the technical documentation to build your own links and see how they work.

One Click Access Experience (for Members)

Below are the default One Click Access experiences. Please contact support to discuss different behaviors when someone clicks a link.

First Visit

When a member clicks on a One Click Access link for the first time, they are taken straight to their Portal where they can share, view referrals/rewards, update their details, etc.

They instantly access the Portal without having to register or set a password. Click Link > Open Portal.

They are also then registered as a member on the Member List.

Returning Visit (same device, not logged out)

If a member clicks on a One Click Access link again from the same device and didn’t log out of the Portal then they are taken back to the full Portal with all the sharing options and details. Similar to the First Visit experience.

Returning Visit (new device or logged out)

If a member clicks on a One Click Access link from a new device, if the member cookie has expired, or if they previously logged out of the Portal they are then taken to a more limited Portal. They can still share but if they want to check referrals/rewards or update their details they will need to log in (see Passwordless Experience).

For privacy and security reasons, we lock certain portal features to protect sensitive information until the returning member logs in (i.e. can’t see referral or reward data, can’t change account details, etc.). A locked icon will represent these protected areas.

This approach encourages sharing while still protecting sensitive information.
