How do I manually add or issue a Reward?

While reward rules automate the process of earning and issuing rewards, it is possible to manually create and send rewards directly from Actions, or from a member’s or referral's profile. You can also issue (but not add) rewards from Bulk Actions and Review Pending.

Manually add/issue a reward from Actions

The Quick Action Add Reward option lets you send a reward to anyone instantly, even if that reward is not part of your typical referral program flow.

For instance, you might use it for:

  • Recognizing standout employees

  • Thanking customers for a testimonial

  • Awarding contest winners

  • Awarding bonuses

  • One-off program rewards

  • Additional program rewards

  • Rewarding referrals outside of your program structure (say, someone who sent a referral over the phone)

  • Any other reason you have for sending rewards

Here’s how to issue a reward from Actions:

1. Select Actions > Add Reward

2. Choose whether the reward is for a Member or Referral using the appropriate tab.

3. Select the Member or Referral you’d like to reward – start to type their name, then select them from the drop down.

  • You can only reward existing Members and Referrals.

  • If you’d like to reward a member or referral you haven’t added yet, you’ll need to add them first using the Add Member or Add Referral option in the Actions drop-down.

If you’d like to log the referral a Member brought in to receive the reward, you can add a note saying which referral it’s for when you issue the reward (for your own reference) or mention this in the description of the reward (if you want to reference it for the Member).

4. Select the reward type you’d like the recipient to receive.

  • You can only select from Payouts you’ve already set up.

5. Enter the reward amount (quantity).

  • Usually, this will be 1 for coupons and custom rewards.

  • For PayPal, Wise, and Gift Cards/Reward Link, the amount is the cash value.

6. Enter a description of the reward for the recipient.

  • This description will appear in the reward email if you add the merge tag for the description.

7. Review the reward information to verify it is correct.

8. Select Create Reward. This won’t issue the reward yet.

9. You’ll be asked if you want to issue the reward now (send it to the recipient.)

  • You can choose to issue the reward now or view the reward.

  • Remember: Once a reward is issued, it cannot be recalled – so be absolutely sure you’re ready to send the reward before you select Issue.

  • If you decide to issue the reward, you can include a description for your own records; the recipient can’t see this description.

  • If you view the reward, you’ll bring up its Reward Profile – you won’t issue the reward.

  • You can also click the X to exit the drawer without issuing the reward.

Manually issue a reward from its Reward Profile

Depending on your reward rules setup, you may have pending rewards that need to be manually issued.

If you’d like to manually issue a single reward, locate it in the Reward List and click to open its Reward Profile. Then, click the Issue Reward button to issue the reward.

You can also write a note about the reward for your records – the recipient can’t access this note.

Note: Once a reward is issued, it cannot be recalled – so be sure you’re ready to send the reward before you click Issue Reward.

Manually issue rewards in bulk from the Reward List (Bulk Actions)

You can use the Reward List’s Bulk Actions option to issue several rewards at once, regardless of their type or recipient.

Navigate to Rewards, click the checkboxes next to the rewards you’d like to issue, and then select Bulk Actions > Issue Rewards.

Then, if you’re ready to issue the rewards, click the blue Issue Rewards button, and each reward will be issued separately according to its payout settings.

Remember: Once a reward is issued, it cannot be recalled – so be sure you’re ready to send all the rewards you select before you issue them.

Manually issue rewards from Review Pending

You can also manually issue rewards from Review Pending.

You can only bulk issue rewards by type or recipient when issuing them from Review Pending.

  • If you need to issue a single existing reward to a recipient who is owed multiple rewards, you’ll need to issue it from its Reward Profile.

  • And if you have multiple types of rewards you’d like to issue at once, you can use Bulk Actions.

Here’s how to issue rewards from Review Pending:

1. Locate any pending rewards by going to Rewards > Review Pending

2. You can also filter the list to quickly find rewards by type.

3. If you’d like to issue all rewards of a certain type, locate the reward under Issue by Type, then select Issue under Action.

4. If you’d like to issue all rewards that a certain recipient has earned, locate the reward under Issue by Recipient, then select Issue under Action.

5. Clicking Issue will bring up a pop-up where you can write a note for record-keeping.

6. Confirm that you’d like to issue the rewards. Remember: Once a reward is issued, it cannot be recalled – so be absolutely sure you’re ready to send the reward before you select Confirm.
